If you’re planning to schedule a visit here, we made this list of X things you must definitely do while you are in the city. You’ll be guaranteed to enjoy hours of fun, laughter, and learning!
1. Be one with nature at the Highland Park.
Highland Park is a 150-acre piece of nature situated right in the middle of the bustling city. When you set foot here, you will be wonderstruck by the beauty of the vibrant flowers, mighty trees, and green grasses. You can take a stroll and simply marvel at the different species of flora. You can also stop by the many monuments found within the park – like the Warner Castle, Vietnam Memorial, and the John Dunbar Memorial.
2. Learn about the life of Kodak’s founder at The George Eastman Museum.
The George Eastman Museum is one of the most interesting museums in the entire country. It contains a vast and expensive collection of cameras, photographs, films, and taxidermied animals. The building used to be the home of George Eastman, the well-known founder of Kodak. After his death, it was expanded and transformed into a venue where his story is told and his accomplishments are showcased. His bedroom was even turned into a mini lab where visitors can learn how photographs were printed during the early days of Eastman’s career.
3. Treat yourself to a stunning view at the Charlotte -Genesee Lighthouse.
This lighthouse was first built in 1822, but still works perfectly up to this very day. It is nestled on the shores of Lake Ontario and stands 40 feet tall. If you are feeling up to the challenge, you can climb up to the summit of the lighthouse. It can be quite exhausting, but the amazing view of the lake from the top is definitely worth the effort.
4. Unleash your inner geek at the National Center for the History of Electronic Games.
The NCHEG houses an extensive collection of video games, gaming consoles, and electronic toys like Tamagotchi and Webkinz. The museum showcases how electronic games have evolved through the years and how they have contributed to society. The best part is that every console housed in the building are in working condition and is available for everyone to try – including the first ever coin-operated game from the 1970’s!
All these activities are great to try during any season and won’t require you to spend too much! They are very nice ways to spend with friends and family, or even just by yourself if you feel like it. As in all tourist destinations, just remember to leave nothing – especially garbage and vandalisms – when you visit these amazing places. We should all work together to preserve their beauty and allow the future generations to enjoy them, as well!
